A Japanese Namban Lacquer Casket
Here we have Lot 631, a Japanese Namban lacquer casket from the Momoyama-Early Edo Period. It is made in the typical rectangular form with domed lid. The sides feature asa-ho-ha borders in gold lacquer and abalone shell, the cover and front feature further decoration with shaped panels of a Ho-o bird, paulownia trees and other foliate designs, with brass handle and lock plate.

A large pair of Japanese Arita Porcelain Floor Vases
From Berwick House in Shropshire, we have Lot 652, this large pair of Japanese Arita porcelain floor vases from the Meiji-Taisho Era. Each has a tapered body rising to a knopped, cylindrical neck with an undulating, everted mouth. They are decorated in underglaze blue with scenes of Ho-o birds amid cherry trees in gardens. The neck then features floral roundels on a karakusa ground.

HODODA: A Japanese Satsuma Pottery Bowl
Another highlight is Lot 661, this Japanese satsuma pottery bowl from the Meiji Period. It is of circular form with lobed rim and is raised on a tall splayed foot. The base is marked with a Shimazu mon "Dai Nihon Hododa dzu". The exterior features flying Tennins and diaper borders.

The interior is then decorated in typical overglaze enamels and gilding, depicting a festival day in a temple precincts.
