In the tradition of renowned 20th century sculptors such as Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore, British sculptor Bernard McGuigan uses the technique of 'direct carving' forms into stone by hand. His stylised and abstracted works are characterised by a sense of tranquility and are often fashioned in varieties of English and French limestone and sandstone. McGuigan has previously exhibited at the Royal Academy of Arts and was an associate of the Royal Society of British Sculptors. He has also received awards from the British Design Association.
These white carved sandstone busts from the selected contents of a Holland Park House, were originally purchased by the vendor direct from the artist. They will be appearing in our Interiors sale on 5 June.
