We are particularly grateful to Summerill & Bishop for lending their beautiful table linen, which featured throughout the catalogue, and to Dr Amy Boyington, who provided a fascinating insight into the traditions and rituals of Georgian entertaining. Drawing on a selection of 18th-century silver tableware from the sale, she explored the essential elements of hosting the perfect Georgian dinner party.

Most importantly, they demonstrated that silver remains much more than something to admire in a cabinet: these are objects with history, personality and presence that can still bring theatre to the dining table today.”
