In our At Home auction on Tuesday 8 December, we will present the collection of artist-designers Duncan Campbell and Luke Edward Hall. Drawn from their much-admired homes in London and the Cotswolds, the kaleidoscopic collection reflects the couple’s singular approach to interiors, where classical motifs meet eclectic colour, pattern, and a playful sense of imagination. Bringing together furniture, works of art, and decorative objects, the collection speaks to the instinctive way in which Campbell and Hall live and create, and presents an intimate portrait of the pair’s interior life.
Duncan Campbell and Luke Edward Hall are among the foremost creative talents of a new generation redefining the worlds of art, interiors, and design. Duncan Campbell is co-founder of the award-winning design studio Campbell-Rey, whose work encompasses residential and commercial interiors, furniture, and product design. The studio’s high-profile clients have included Bentley, Bulgari, Baccarat and Tramp, as well as a number of private individuals internationally. Luke Edward Hall has established an equally diverse practice as an artist, designer, and writer, working across interiors, fashion, and the decorative arts, alongside his clothing and homeware brand, Chateau Orlando. His client list includes Burberry, Lanvin, Glyndebourne, and the Royal Academy of Arts. Recent interior design projects include restaurants and hotels in Paris and Rome. Together, their work has earned them an international following and established them as influential voices in contemporary British design.
Drawn from Campbell and Hall’s Cotswolds home and London bolthole, originally conceived as a weekend retreat, the cottage soon became their main home, with its characterful interiors evolving organically alongside their growing collection. The result is a layered aesthetic that feels collected rather than contrived, bringing together everything from a 19th century Venetian grotto chair to pieces created by Campbell and Hall themselves, including embroidered stools and chairs with bullion fringe, faux painted side tables, and works of art. Their north London flat reflected this approach in miniature: a cacophony of colour, pattern, and texture expressed through furniture, tapestries, rugs and objects, many of which feature in the auction.
Duncan Campbell and Luke Edward Hall commented, "For almost twenty years we’ve been collecting together in a way that feels instinctive and organic, gathering pieces that speak to us and living with them in London and Gloucestershire. With an emphasis on colour and patina, we enjoy mixing styles and periods, and have always been drawn to furniture and objects that tell stories with a sense of wit and theatricality. We hope that these pieces will now find new homes and continue to bring as much joy as they’ve brought us."
Commenting on the sale, Joe Robinson, Head of the House Sales and Private Collections Department at Dreweatts, said, “It is a pleasure to have Duncan and Luke’s collection leading Dreweatts’ December ‘At Home’ sale. It’s breadth and playfulness is particularly remarkable. Their much-admired eye is evident throughout, resulting in a compelling and highly individual mix of pieces. We believe the opportunity to acquire a part of this collection, whether a single piece or something more significant, will hold appeal to decorators, designers, and collectors alike.”
