Auction Results | Modern and Contemporary Art | Wednesday 29 October 2025

On Wednesday 29 October we held our auction of Modern and Contemporary Art. The auction featured a selection of works from the collection of Micky Johnson, this deeply personal and passionately curated assembly has been built over many years. The collection began with early acquisitions by celebrated artists such as Pablo Picasso, Anish Kapoor, Sean Scully, Paula Rego, and Tony Cragg.

With lively bidding online, via telephone, and in person, the sale totalled £1.4 million. Co-head of Modern and Contemporary Art at Dreweatts Jennie Fisher commented, "We are thrilled with the result of yesterday’s sale which saw competitive bidding across multiple categories from Impressionist and Post-Impressionist works to 21st century contemporary art. Collectors responded to the beautiful pieces from private collections with interesting provenances resulting in strong interest from UK private buyers and notable participation from US and Canadian bidders, as well as European collectors from France, Spain, Germany and Switzerland, indicating a continued confidence in the art market."
