Next up in our ‘Valuation Finds and Favourites’ series, Geoffrey Stafford Charles, Director of British and Continental Ceramics & Glass describes his excitement to discover this rare and unusual Castelli D’Abruzzo maiolica dish, circa 1575, from the Cardinal Farnese Service. Consigned to Dreweatts from a private vendor following a Home Valuation appointment.
Geoffrey trained to be a Chartered Surveyor of Chattels on the Incorporated Society of Valuers and Auctioneers Fine Art and Chattels course at the Southampton Institute and is now a member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). After the completion of his studies he worked at Christie’s South Kensington initially as a porter and then in the Ceramics department where he became a junior cataloguer.
Geoffrey joined Dreweatts in 2000 and in his role here he continues to catalogue and value British and Continental Ceramics and Glass whilst also using his qualification as a General Valuer.
