This summer we have our Interiors auction, to include The Fulwood Collection, taking place on Wednesday 19 & Thursday 20 July.
The Fulwood Collection comes from a Grade II listed rectory in the North of England. Formerly the childhood home of Sir Douglas Bader (a windowpane with an air pellet hole he shot in it has been kept as a memento) the rectory was acquired by the late owner approximately 15 years ago. The house was formerly split into two separate houses and with care he lovingly refurbished it back into a single house and refurnished in a blend of the Grand Tour style and Welsh and English provincial tastes. This auction includes selected furniture, works of art, paintings from the property and includes good collections of predominately 18th century kitchen utensils and early 20th century leather luggage and cases with which he decorated and ornamented the property.
The selection of items from the collection, comprising 117 lots, includes this modern pair of sofa’s and pair of large armchairs by Fendi Casa (Lot 117). In the Chesterfield style, they are upholstered in white leather with gilt metal mounts, and feature a front plate inscribed ‘Fendi’.
Fendi was originally started in the early 20th century by Adele and Edoardo Fendi in Rome, Italy. It went on to become the internationally recognised luxury brand for fashion and leather goods that it is today. They began producing home goods under the Fendi Casa brand.
Also included is Lot 62, a suitcase by Luxury brand Louis Vuitton, synonymous with luxury travel cases and accessories, featuring the distinctive caramel and chocolate Monogram design.
This charming Swiss gilt metal musical box (Lot 108) dates to the late 19th century. It is designed with a pop up singing bird automaton and all-filigree decoration. These popular singing bird boxes were first invented over 200 years ago. This would make a lovely gift or addition to a dressing table.
We then have Lot 65, this impressive pair of carved marble urns on plinths of recent manufacture. They are made in the Neo-classical style. Sure to make a statement, these stand at 159cm high overall including the plinth bases.
Finally, we have Lot 64, a pair of ornate giltwood mirrors, of recent manufacture, designed in the George II style. The pair are beautifully decorated with scroll surmounts centralised by putti, above pilasters and a shaped apron with protruding masks.
