Auction Results | The Collection of The Hon. Patrick and Lady Amabel Lindsay | Tuesday 2 June 2026

On Tuesday 2 June, Dreweatts were proud to hold the auction of The Collection of The Hon. Patrick and Lady Amabel Lindsay. Bringing together an eclectic selection of furniture, paintings, works of art, the auction reflected a lifetime of discerning collecting and a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, design and provenance. Rich in quality, character and history, the collection offered a compelling insight into the couple's refined aesthetic and enduring passion for the arts.

Met with energetic participation from a truly global collector base, the auction realised a total of £2.29 million, over three times the pre-sale auction estimate, and a sell-through rate of 97%.

Commenting on the results, Joe Robinson, Head of House Sales and Private Collections, said, "We are proud of the results Dreweatts delivered for the Lindsay family. From the moment the sale was announced, it was clear that the collection resonated far beyond the traditional collecting community. The remarkable level of interest we witnessed, both at the exhibitions and from bidders around the world, reflected not only the quality and appeal of the objects offered but also the captivating story behind them.

Patrick and Lady Amabel assembled their collection over many decades with an instinctive eye, intellectual curiosity and a deep appreciation for beauty, history and craftsmanship. Their home was never a static showcase; it was a place where paintings, furniture, and objects were lived with, enjoyed and woven into the fabric of family life and entertaining.

What has been particularly gratifying is seeing collectors respond not simply to individual lots, but to the character and spirit of the collection as a whole. Competitive bidding across so many categories demonstrated a strong appetite for objects with provenance, personality and a genuine collecting narrative. The results are a testament to the enduring appeal of thoughtfully assembled collections and the continued strength of the market for exceptional works with distinguished histories."
