On Wednesday 13 August, Dreweatts held the auction, London Designed: Two Private Apartments by Peter Mikic and the late Richard Collins. The auction presented pieces from two contemporary London apartments, each showcasing impressive, modern, design-led interiors with nods to iconic 20th and 21st century designers. The penthouse was designed by Peter Mikic, whose exuberant style took cues from 20th century Italy, combining rich textures such as brass and Murano glass. The second apartment by the late Richard Collins presented a pared back aesthetic blending mid-century pieces with antiqued and statement artwork. Capturing the imagination of bidders from around the world, the sale had a 99.6% sell through rate, totalling £662,419, making 115% above the presale estimate.
Talking about the results, Head of Modern Design and Decorative Art, Gemma Sanders said, "The auction’s results were exceptional with strong international interest. It reflects the strength of the market in the field of modern design and design-led interiors, and Dreweatts’ unparalleled abilities in the presentation of house and collection sales. I’m proud to be part of the very big Dreweatts team that worked so hard to make this sale an immense success."
