Dreweatts is pleased to share the outstanding results of the Fine Jewellery auction, held on Wednesday 19 November. The sale totalled £1.15 million - 178% of the presale estimate - with a 88% sell-through rate. Dedicated to exceptional antique, modern, and designer pieces, the auction was led by an important pair of Cartier Art Deco diamond earrings from the 1930s, which realised an impressive £214,400, significantly surpassing its pre-sale estimate of £30,000–£50,000.
Commenting on the sale, Dreweatts’ Head of Jewellery Charlotte Peel, said “The auction attracted strong international bidding across all categories. Particularly notable results were achieved for signed jewels by Buccellati, Schlumberger, Oscar Heyman, Cartier, and Van Cleef & Arpels. Collectors also showed strong interest in antique Georgian, Victorian, and early 20th-century pieces, including a beautiful emerald and diamond bracelet gifted by Irene Solomon Guggenheim to her daughter on the occasion of her marriage to Arthur Stuart, 7th Earl Castle Stuart.”
These results underscore the enduring appetite for exceptional craftsmanship and notable provenance, reaffirming Dreweatts’ position as one of the UK’s leading auctioneers of fine jewellery.
