But it is also the glimpse given into the collector’s path of the collection they have built.

This collection was built over many years, with purchasing enabled through a long-standing professional and personal relationship with Justerini & Brooks of St James’s, London. The majority of the wines were bought en primeur and stored across private family cellars with cool, constant temperatures and temperature-controlled cellars in Hampshire and Wiltshire. You will find the physical condition of the bottles tell the story of authentic bottle aging. Soiled or detached labels, or weathered glass - all are natural results of a constant and humid cellar environment. For all the love of design, there is a beauty that comes with age and the look of wine that on a superficial level may have been affected, but with 30, 40, 50 or even over 70 years, has evolved linearly, as above all, when the contents of the bottle still give that clarity and colour that resounds the life kept within, the excitement continues. To speak of the wine, is to speak of a collection that spans legendary wines made in the 20th century. Going back in time, we are taken to the sequence of Chateau d’Yquem, led by golden history from 1939, 1955 and with multiple lots of 1967 (halves) to spread the love of Sauternes - at its finest, dare I add, 100 pointers. Bordeaux legends, and with more 100s in the mix, some standouts are the 1986 Chateau Mouton Rothschild, 2000 Chateau Lafite Rothschild, 1995 Chateau Margaux, 1989 and 1990 Chateau Montrose and 1996 Chateau La Mission Haut Brion. The quality of the cellar continues to flow with Burgundy in its 1993 Emmanuel Rouget Echezeaux Grand Cru, and 1990 Gros Frere et Soeur, Grands Echezeaux Grand Cru. For Champagne, it is the 1995 and 1998 Dom Perignon. The fortified section, standing tall with its vintages of 1955, 1966 and 1970 Taylor’s and lastly, no cellar is complete without a little exuberance in large formats; a Double Magnum of 1982 Chateau Leoville Barton, Magnums of 1982 Chateau Beychevelle and a Magnum of 1981 Chateau Lafite Rothschild.
