Each chair denotes this interesting chapter in English design history by way of their rectangular trellis backs, and similar arms.

Whilst not themselves Chippendale, they are heavily influenced by the designs of Thomas Chippendale and whilst not themselves Chippendale, they are based on the Chinese inspired designs of Thomas Chippendale and some of his contemporaries – which were very much in vogue at the time.
