Auction Results | Château Lafite from the Collection of Lord Rothschild at Stowell Park & Fine Wine, Champagne, Vintage Port and Spirits | Tuesday 28 April 2026

On Tuesday 28 April, we were thrilled to offer Château Lafite from the Collection of Lord Rothschild at Stowell Park followed by our monthly auction of Fine Wine, Champagne, Vintage Port and Spirits. Both auctions achieved fantastic results, with the auction of ‘Château Lafite from the Collection of Lord Rothschild at Stowell Park’ achieving a 100% sell-through rate.

Commenting on the results, Head of Sale Violette Jongbloed said “We raise a glass to Lord Rothschild for entrusting Dreweatts with the offering of his remarkable cellar, and our sincere gratitude goes to our discerning collectors who participated and helped make this sale soar. With an overall result that lived up to the Rothschild name, the auction achieved the very top end of the estimate. The enthusiasm for strong provenance combined with grand old and prestigious wine remains a driving force. It was great to see this enthusiasm extended to the large offering of Château Lafite from the 1970s, an often-overlooked decade. 127 lots - and with that, 127 wines - are now finding their way to new owners’ cellars. Some of the best from Lord Rothschild’s cellar were the 1966 and 1975 Château Lafite, 1961 La Mission Haut-Brion, 1996 Domaine Dujac, Clos Saint-Denis, 1976 Krug, and of course the Imperial of 1994 Château d’Yquem.”

Reflecting on the results achieved in the monthly auction of Fine Wine, Champagne, Vintage Port and Spirits, Violette Jongbloed said "The monthly auction in the afternoon continued with significant wines backed by exquisite provenance from The Wine Society. A special mention to Lot 1150, the 1988 Domaine Armand Rousseau, Chambertin-Clos de Beze Grand Cru which realised £20,400 and Lot 1151, the 1990 Domaine Roumier, Bonnes Mares Grand Cru, which achieved £39,600. Both far-exceeding their top estimates after intense bidding."
