Here we have an intriguing Rolex, Oyster Perpetual Bubble Back from 1945. Inscribed on the back is the name ‘J. R. Stoop’. With some research we discovered this to be ‘Dickie’ Stoop, a Flight Lieutenant in WWII. He was one of the first men to race at Goodwood, driving MG around the perimeter track while it was still RAF Westhampnett. Post-war Dickie Stoop became a test pilot but also followed his passion for motor racing, competing at Le Mans, the Mille Miglia, at Spa and at race tracks throughout the UK driving a Frazer Nash and later a Porsche.Watches and Luxury Accessories | On View from Sunday, 10am-2pm#dreweatts #donningtonpriory #watches #rolex #vintagerolex #oysterperpetual #watchauction

Next Tuesday we will have selected watch highlights from our upcoming auction on view in London | 10am-5pm | 16-17 Pall MallAs well as the vintage Heuer collection, included in the selection is this rare Rolex Oysterdate Perpetual Rite Time.Made in 1954 this was the last model specifically made for the Canadian market. The reference 6518 is unusual enough, but fewer of them bear the text ‘Rite Time’ above the 6 o’clock and even fewer of them have the early calibre 1000 movement. Truly remarkable is the dial which is in astonishingly good condition for its 64 years. Set in an only lightly worn case this collectable little time-capsule is extremely covetable.#dreweatts #pallmall #watchauction #rolex #vintagewatches #ritetime #vintagerolex
