The catalogue is now available! Our Transport Sale on 12 March includes nine locomotives from the Lord Braybrooke Collection of Fine Live Steam Locomotives, from the Audley End Miniature Railway. Trains and locomotives played a large part in the life of the late Lord Braybrooke with his interest dating from his childhood. He planned the development of a miniature garden railway in the grounds of Audley End. Lord Braybrooke initially sought advice from the toy manufacturer Bassett-Lowke, and they in turn recommended David Curwen, an engineer and locomotive builder from Wiltshire. And, so began a close friendship and partnership which was to endure for over forty years. All Aboard! Head over to Donnington Priory this weekend as our Transport sale goes on view this Sunday, 10am-2pm A highlight from our upcoming Transport Sale. Lot 17 is one of the very best examples of a Great Western Railway ‘Manor Class’ tender locomotives we have ever offered for sale at Dreweatts. It has fine detailing and is built to a very high model engineering standard. The model took 28 years to complete over week-ends and evening and the builder did not live long enough to paint the model. On his death three fellow model engineers from his local model engineering club took up the challenge to ensure that the model would look its very best in GWR livery. This is a great exhibition quality model and will most possibly end up is a display case as it would almost be a shame to fire it up and damage the fine paintwork. #dreweatts #donningtonpriory #locomotives #modelengineering #worksofart #auction

A highlight from our Transport Sale is this model M10 tank destroyer built to represent a World War II M10 Achilles. It was built from scratch over a period of ten years by two brothers, one a mechanical engineer and the other an electronics engineer, in their spare time. It is believed that a model of this type and size is unique in the UK.The M10 tank destroyer was an American tank used in World War II. After the United States’ entry into the War and the formation of the Tank Destroyer Force a suitable vehicle was needed for the new battalions. Numerically, the M10 was the most important US tank destroyer in World War II and it remained in service until the end of the war.#dreweatts #donningtonpriory #transport #engineering #worksofart #modelengineering #auction
