Pictured here is lot 174, a modern Herend porcelain ‘Market Garden’ pattern part dinner service. The ‘Market Garden’ pattern was first produced by the firm of Herend in the 1850s, and it provided the master painters of the Hungarian porcelain factory with a fruitful ground (literally and figuratively) to hone their skill. To this day, Herend porcelain remains among the finest one can buy and it is a firm market favourite. #dreweatts #donningtonpriory #collections #auction #interiors #ceramics #porcelain #interiordesign #countryhome #countryliving

The period 1760-1820 is regarded as the golden age of classical English furniture design. Although at the time Royal patronage was still very important increasing numbers of the aristocracy and fashionable classes were building mansions and townhouses which required furnishing. The greatest and best known names in furniture design all flourished at this time. In our upcoming Fine Furniture, Carpets and Works of Art, we have this George III mahogany armchair, of Gainsborough type with typical rectangular back above polished mahogany open arms, the rectangular seat above voluted cabriole legs. #dreweatts #donningtonpriory #finefurniture #interiors #interiordesign #countryhouse #countryhome #gainsborough #englishfurniture #antique #fineauction
