[Duke of Buckingham and Chandos interest] A Victorian silver twin handled trophy cup by William Hunter, London 1864, with leaf-capped scroll handles, acorn borders to the two reserves, the circular pedestal with a foliate knop, the interior gilt, presentation engraved and with two shields, 28cm (11in) high, later weighted


 


Presentation engraved Lt. Col. His Grace The Duke of Buckingham and Chandos, K.G. and the Officers of the Royal Bucks Yeomanry Cavalry from Lt. Col. Creed and the Officers of the First Brigade of Middlesex Artillery Volunteers. In remembrance of the good friendship & kindly feeling evinced towards them at the Volunteer Review at Stowe on 22nd June 1864.


The arms accolly representing the counties of Middlesex and Buckinghamshire.


Richard Plantagenet Campbell Temple-Nugent-Brydges-Chandos-Grenville, 3rd Duke of Buckingham and Chandos, GCSI, PC, DL (1823-1889). He was appointed Hon. Col. to the 1st Middlesex Artillery Volunteers in July 1865.
