An Egyptian fragmentary steatite section of a cippus, Late Period to Ptolemaic, circa 600 ~ 32 B.C., sculpted in high relief, the head of Bes protectively placed above a now defaced head of Horus the child with the Sidelock of Youth, a crocodile and the top of a Horus staff on one side and with hieroglyphic text and symbols on the back


6.5cm high, 6.5cm wide


PROVENANCE: Purchased by the current owner from a Private Collection, London, 2013
