20th Century Paintings Achieve Top Prices in The Fine Art Sale at Dreweatts

James Harvey, Head of Traditional Art at Dreweatts commented after the sale: "Today's auction demonstrated the market remains strong for 20th century paintings. Competitive bidding saw two works by Sir Kyffin Williams raise a combined total of £50,840 for charity, an excellent result."
Sir Kyffin Williams (1918-2006) Pencarnisiog, oil on canvas, signed with initials KW lower right, sold for £27,280 on behalf of the Welsh Rugby Union to support injured rugby players throughout the country [pre-sale estimate £12,000-18,000 Lot 49].
Lionel Dalhousie Robertson Edwards (1878-1966) The Blankney Hunt, oil on canvas, signed inscribed 'Blankney', and dated 1933 lower right, sold for £23,560 [pre-sale estimate £10,000-15,000 Lot 34]
