Appointment of Mark Newstead

as Head of Asian and European Ceramics and Works of Art

Donnington Priory -Dreweatts are delighted to announce the appointment of Mark Newstead as Head of Asian and European Ceramics and Works of Art. The former deputy head of Ceramics at Sotheby's will be working with the specialist team at Dreweatts' Donnington Priory saleroom in Berkshire.

Having dedicated over 30 years' to the fine art and auctions industry, Mark brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to Dreweatts. He has handled and overseen the sale of some of the greatest ceramics collections since he began at Sotheby's in 1986, including The William Wilshire Collection of William de Morgan and the celebrated Albert Wade Collection of British Art Pottery.

Benefitting from over two decades working at the top of the auction industry, Mark has been tasked with nurturing client relationships and curating a fresh calendar of sales with the Asian and European Ceramics and Works of Art department. His previous role as Assistant Head of Country House Sales at Sotheby's, also places Mark in the perfect position to develop Dreweatts as the regional auction house of choice for Country House sales.

Mark was an undergraduate at University College London before joining the Ceramics department at Sotheby's London, in 1986. Most recently he has been Business Development, Director for the North West, Midlands and Isle of Man for Christies, since 2007. Dreweatts are delighted that Mark has decided to join the Donnington Priory team, who look forward developing the department under his expertise.
