Private consignments of fine pens are gathering momentum at Dreweatts & Bloomsbury Auctions, who are thrilled to be offering examples from the finest pen makers including Namiki, Montblanc, and Montegrappa in a sale of Fine Pens on Wednesday 9th July. The sale will be held at Dreweatts & Bloomsbury Auctions' Donnington Priory saleroom in Berkshire as part of a series of Luxury sales.

At the heart of the sale are three highly collectible pens by the principal Japanese pen maker Namiki, led by a Namiki, Pilot, Pavilion Emperor maki-e fountain pen estimated at £4,000-6,000 [Lot 283]. Maki-e, a Japanese lacquer, is an ancient and expertly skilled craft that uses sprinklings of gold and silver powders to produce an image.

Other examples include a Namiki, Emperor Autumn flowers fountain pen, circa 1990 estimated at £2,500-3,500 [Lot 284] and a Namiki, pilot, The Panda estimated at £800-1,200 [Lot 285].

Well represented in the sale are Montblanc's, the most desirable pens in the auction market today. With a worldwide collecting audience these impeccable pens are as coveted as the major watch brands.

The sale includes a comprehensive selection of 30 Montblanc's to suit all pockets from the entry standard Montblanc 146 fountain pen at £100-150 [Lot 304], through the current Starwalker editions [Lot 315] and a selection of 11 limited edition Writers Series [Lots 317 – 327] to the highly sought after 888 limited edition Patron Of the Arts Series.

The Nicolaus Copernicus limited edition fountain pen from the 888 series, circa 2003, will be sold in a Montblanc presentation box with plaque to front, service guide, outer box and card packaging. It is estimated at £2,500-3,500 [Lot 331]

Also from the highly collectible 888 series is a Pope Julius II limited edition fountain pen. A joy for the collector, it is offered in its red lacquer display box with outer decorative card packing and paperwork. It is estimated at £2,000-3,000 [Lot 334]

The sale will be held on Wednesday 9th July 2014 at Dreweatts & Bloomsbury Auctions' Donnington Priory saleroom in Berkshire.
