Garden auction a first for Chelsea Flower Show

International auction house Dreweatts & Bloomsbury will be conducting the very first auction of a complete RHS Chelsea Flower show garden – during show week.

The Stoke-on-Trent Transformation Garden is packed with valuable ceramic artefacts and unique design creativity – a symbol of the city’s economic resurgence.

The city has entered RHS Chelsea Flower Show with the express intention of growing the city’s international reputation as a hothouse for inward investment and enterprise.

The Transformation Garden is an expression of the city’s collaborative and creative spirit. Businesses and organisations have come together donating time, creative energy, design and manufacturing expertise and materials.

The garden has been constructed sponsored by top international garden company Bartholomew Landscaping – a real statement of faith in the city’s future.

It will be a unique mix of rare precision engineered artefacts with beautiful plants and flowers, all symbolising some part of the city’s amazing story.

Here are just some of the stunning artefacts included:

A steel bottle kiln shaped Garden Room, interlaced with super-light ceramic flowers produced by the British Ceramic Biennial Ltd working with local students

A beautiful collectors ceramic floral table produced by Moorcroft Pottery in their centenary year

A monumental steel feature fountain made by Fountains and Features Ltd.

A beautiful 10 metre ceramic floral swag composed of hand crafted ceramic flowers.

A living wall depicting the Peak District (the landscape framing Stoke-on-Trent’s creativity) in shrubs, perennials and grasses.

Sealed bids from serious buyers will need to be submitted to the Garden stand by 5pm on Thursday 23rd May or by e-mail to donnington@dnfa.com or ringing 01635 553553.

If the whole garden doesn’t attract a high enough offer then it will be split into lots and Dreweatts will sell these in a timed online auction running from 11am on Friday 24 May through to 5pm on Sunday 26 May via www.the-saleroom.com

Dreweatts & Bloomsbury Auctions Executive Chairman Stephan Ludwig stated:

"We are honoured to be conducting this innovative fundraising initiative. Our services are naturally being provided free of charge and we are excited to be orchestrating the sale of the Transformation Garden. This is both a unique and historic moment for Chelsea and for Stoke-on-Trent.
