Hercules Fighting against the Trojans,
from the Labours of Hercules series, engraving on laid paper, 1545, a good impression, second state of three, [B.101], 52 x 80mm. (2 x 3 1/4 in); with Hercules Killing Cacus, from the same series, engraving on laid paper, 1545, final state of four, [B.104], 50 x 73mm. (2 x 2 3/4 in), both unframed (2) ⁂ Provenance: Albert W. Blum (1882-1952), New Jersey [L. 79b]; his sale Sotheby's, New York, 27 February 1988, lot 1176. Hercules Killing Cacus with collector's stamps of L. Freiherr von Biegeleben (1812-1872), [L. 385], and unidentified collector's mark [L. 1173] on verso.
Both very good impressions, sheets trimmed with thread margins, minor spotting and browning. Hercules Fighting against the Trojans has surface loss to upper right corner, restored in pen facsimile, with minor restoration to lower left corner also.
