Taxation no Tyranny; an Answer to the Resolutions and Address of the American Congress, James Paul Cobbett's copy with his ink inscription: "James P Cobbett, Nov. 1858" on title, half-title, lacks last f. of text and blank f., half-title with a few small tears, half-title and title soiled, creased and stained, some slight foxing, edges a little creased throughout, later ink inscription on title in another hand identifying Johnson as the author and initials "CP" on half-title, unbound, stitched as issued, [Courtney & Smith p. 125], 8vo, T. Cadell, 1775.
⁂ Johnson's famous pamphlet attacking the instigators of the American Revolution, sadly defective but with an interesting later association of James Paul Cobbett, son of William Cobbett ( political writer and farmer, 1763-1835) and editor of many of his works and, himself prolific author of political works and tours in Italy and France.
