of Longitude, first edition , title and facing blank leaf ruled in red, title with contemporary ink inscription "For Mr Bowman" and "3" at head, cropped slightly shaving "For" of inscription, a very clean copy, modern half sprinkled sheep over marbled boards, spine ruled in gilt with red morocco label and slightly faded, [Clockmakers' 415; cf.Baillie p.272, second edition], 8vo, W.Sandby, 1767.
⁂ Rare. Harrison's response to Maskelyne's An Account of the Going of Mr. Harrison's Watch… published earlier in the same year, in which Maskelyne had maintained that H4 was not reliable during the trial.
