The firm of Negretti and Zambra are recorded in Banfield, Edwin BAROMETER MAKERS AND RETAILERS 1660-1900 as formed in 1850 when Enrico Negretti and Joseph Warren Zambra went into partnership, the firm continued trading well into the 20th century.

The instrument responds to pressure (has been bag tested) and appears to be giving a reasonably accurate reading. The outer guard box has some shrinkage cracking to lid otherwise is in sound original condition but is lacking its key.
