Sold for £600
A Pair of Second World War German Kriegsmarine Zeiss Delfort 18 X 50 Binoculars No.634940 with original leather neck strap and case, the left frame flat marked CARL ZEISS JENA, the right frame flat marked D.F. 18x - 634940, of standard production specification, retaining all of their original finish throughout, complete with tri-pod mount.
These Zeiss models were in use, during, both the First and Second World Wars, considered German Naval Officer "Private Purchase" because of the lack of the Dienstglas markings. Many high-quality German pistols and optics (rifle scopes and binoculars) that were marked for export were pressed into military service in the 1930's as the German Army and Navy was rebuilt and rearmed. The 18 X 50 designation was specific to the Kriegsmarine, as they needed the most powerful optics for use at sea.
