A Continental patinated bronze model possibly portraying Chronos or Father Time
Sold for £400
A Continental patinated bronze model possibly portraying Chronos or Father Time, late 19th century, seated amongst heaped drapery, atop an associated pink marble socle, 46cm high overall
Provenance: 9, The Circus, Bath
The bronze has a dark, almost black patina overall.
It bears a few minor surface scuffs at some exposed extremities, but is in basically good order.
The right leg and both wings are separately cast and attached, so there are visible join lines across that thigh and were the wings meet the shoulders.
These joints are all loose, and might benefit from being refixed.
The bronze (particularly given its subject matter) was probably originally mounted atop a clock.
The marble plinth is associated.
It is variously chipped around its upper edge, but these are hidden by the bronze, which just lifts off.
There is a more significant chip to one of the lower corners of the plinth, circa 3cm x 2cm
