Marks, scratches and abrasions comensurate with age ans use
old splits and chips.
To the top there is some area of lifting to the veneer, areas of blooming to the varnish and some old repairs. The top has probably been later revarnished. Some sections of the veneer have possibly been replaced as some sections appear to be cut unevenly or slightly ill fitting.
There is an old neatly glued split through the upper part of the pillar.
There is a very slight 'wobble' where the top joins the stem.
