An early Victorian silver twin handled punch or centre bowl on silver mounted socle by Paul Storr, London 1838, engraved to the base Storr & Mortimer 234 and No. 367. Published as the Act directs by Storr & Mortimer, 156 New Bond Street, London. August 27. 1838 , the handles modelled as stallions rearing supported by foliate brackets, a cast fruiting vine everted rim, the shallow campana shape bowl lobed below, on a bold foliate pedestal, on a square base, the red velvet covered socle with a brass top, the base with a moulded silver footrim, engraved 234 Storr & Mortimer , 46cm (18in) high overall, the bowl 3701g (119 oz)
Cup has had an inscription removed
Bowl and pedestal unbolt, each fully marked, decoration crisp, small dents to bowl, 1 inch crease in everted rim.
Marks to bowl and plinth foot rim each worn but readable. Sits well. Presentation engraving erased, no discethable thinning.
