A harlequin set of twelve hardwood dining chairs
A harlequin set of twelve hardwood dining chairs, in Dutch Colonial 18th century style , rectangular shaped back, surmounted by turned finals and central caned panel, each caned seat on square section spiral turned legs and stretchers, 116cm high, 52cm wide, 46cm deep; together with a pair of similar solid satinwood examples
Please note, this is a harlequin set of dining chairs. Please read the condition report regarding the groupings of similar chairs within the lot.
This is a harlequin set rather than 12 matched chairs, see photo's for details of those that match although they are handmade and have slight variations.
The breakdown into:-
two satinwood examples
two in coramandore but of differing design
four with rectangular panels
two with oval back panels
two with oval back panels with finer carving to top rail
two which do match any others as per below;
Marks, scratches and abrasions consistent with age and use.
Frames slightly weak and wobbling - may need attention
Cane in reasonable order but some losses to odd panels
Odd crest has been carved replacement and lugs/finials
Some cracks to frames
Minor chips - moulding loss to caromandore seat and frame
