A George III mahogany bureau bookcase, circa 1770, dentil cornice, a pair of astragal glazed doors, hinged fall opening to an arrangement of small drawers, pigeon holes, a central cupboard and leather inset writing surface, four long graduated drawers, ogee bracket feet, 215cm high, 108cm wide, 57 cm deep
Marks, scratches and abrasions comensurate with age and use.
some old chips and splits
one pane of glass cracked.
metalware cleaned throughly and some cream coloured residue from cleaning product remains
some lifting to crossbanding of bureau fall
Part of back leg broken off, but present
'floor' panel of upper section bears patches of loss to surface throughout
later fabric panel pinned to rear panel of cabinet section
Interior handles appear original
some additional fading to colour of fall and front of bureau
