A carved oak aneroid wall barometer with thermometer

The circular silvered register with arched scale calibrated in barometeric inches divided into hundredths and with the usual observations above curved Fahrenheit scale mercury thermometer to the lower margin, the rosette engraved centre with blued steel pointer and signed R. BAILEY, 14 BENNETS HILL, BIRMINGHAM, the case with bevel glass fitted with brass recording pointer within spun brass bezel and surround relief carved with ivy leaf trails, 28cm (11ins) diameter.
R. Bailey is recorded in Banfield, Edwin BAROMETER MAKERS AND RETAILERS 1660-1900 as working from 14 & 15 Bennetts Hill, Birmingham circa 1865-85.
The instrument apears to be in good working condition with very slight mellowing of the silvering and some metal polish residue around the brass bezel. The carved wooden surround has two shrinkage cracks which have been filled otherwise is in good condition.
