Sold for £180
A mahogany quarter chiming mantel clock, Elliott, London, late 20th century , the eight-day movement with platform lever escapement, Westminster chime on eight gongs and inscribed Elliott, London, 10840 to backplate, the brass break-arch dial with engraved centre within applied silvered Roman numeral chapter ring with Arabic five minutes to outer track, the angles applied with winged cherub head cast spandrels beneath silvered boss flanked by conforming mounts, the break-arch case with hinged brass carrying handle, on cavetto moulded skirt base with brass bracket feet, 33cm 913ins) high excluding handle.
Movement is complete and in original condition. The going train is working (ie. running and probably will keep time) and the quarter train strikes albeit rather lazily, however the hour train appears currently not to be operational. As no individual fault can be identified then movement probably only requires a clean and overhaul before reliable operation can be assured. Dial is undamaged as is the case with faults limited to a few extremely light surface scratches and other marks. Unfortunately clock does not have a winding key (no case key needed).
