Bloomsbury Auctions, the world leading auction house, specialises in the sale of rare books and manuscripts, ranging from Incunabula (books printed before 1500) through to Modern First Editions (such as James Bond and Harry Potter).
With regular auctions throughout the year, our auction calendar comprises general sales (offering a variety of subjects and price-ranges), private collections, and more specialist sales with emphasis on specific areas of interests.
Since our inception we have handled numerous important collections at auction, such as the Yablon collection of Hebraica, many Angling libraries including those of George Miskin, Jeffrey Norton and David Beazley, the Weinreb Computer collection, the library of Egyptologist Ricardo Caminos and that of the Orientalist, David Loman. Consignments from America include the libraries of the late Alan Fortunoff, Samuel & Marie Louise Rosenthal and Margaret and Stanley Winkelman, all covering the book beautiful, from early printed books to modern private Press.
Market leaders in handling entire properties, we sold the Collection of Laurence W. Hodson for £1.3 million, with the library alone making over £875,700. The Antiques Trade Gazette called it the ‘best private press sale for years’, with the top lot, Arthur Joseph Gaskin's The Annunciation, reaching a price of £54,600.
